Dear BSN Rockies readers, listeners and watchers. Drew Creasman and I (Jake Shapiro) have some really exciting news. Today, BSN Denver took the next step towards our ultimate goal of becoming the best sports experience a fan could ever ask for out of any news outlet. To reach this goal our website is changing, you may have noticed the new look today and that we will be asking for you to subscribe to our content. We write this to you to explain why.
There was a time when I was against premium models, but as I’ve grown older I’ve realized that if you’re not paying for what you get it’s probably not worth your time. Whether that be entertainment like Netflix/Hulu or sports writing.
The good news is that because we are taking this next step, we are going to be able to offer you more as writers/reporters. When you subscribe to BSN Denver you are enabling us to cover road games which is an essential part of our mission to cover every team, every sport, every day. This new chapter will also mean no ads on the website which we know you have been asking for since we started. And it will enable Drew and I the opportunity to create and play with new baseball metrics exclusive to BSN Denver that will give us and more importantly you a different look at the ballgame.
The most important part of this next step is you the consumer. We need you to help us take the next step as a small business that’s locally owned. It’s been my personal dream to work in sports and I can tell you that I’ll only worker harder knowing that I have people relying on me for their Rockies news for all 162. At home, on the road and, of course, in the offseason, too.
We’ve worked so hard for this moment—I remember interning at this very startup for free just because I wanted my foot in the door—and we’re so close to giving you, the fan, the best coverage that any sports fan could ever want.
We really hope you’ll join us as we take the next step towards the ultimate goal.
Jake Shapiro, Drew Creasman and the entire BSN Rockies team
