The Colorado Avalanche entered tonight's game against the Calgary Flames feeling good with a 3-1 start to the season and returning from Buffalo after a 6-1 pasting of the Sabres two nights ago.
A Nathan MacKinnon goal 11 seconds into the game only pushed their confidence higher. J.T. Compher took advantage of a bouncing puck and slithered in to make it 2-0 just 2:40 into the game.
Colorado took their two-goal lead and continued pouring on the pressure against Flames backup goaltender David Rittich and came within inches of increasing their lead multiple times. Their failure to do so, however, proved fatal on what was a beautiful Colorado day to start.
