I know this is already on your radar, and it has come up a few times already, but with news of Seattle expansion coming in 2021 can we get a more detailed podcast discussion of what the expansion draft landscape looks for the Avs, and possibly other teams in the central as well? Thanks!

    Podcast question:

With the expansion draft officially slated for 2021, what strategies do you think the Avs can utilize to keep their roster safe?

Makar will be eligible and needing protection, potentially Kaut as well. You’ve mentioned the Varly signing as a potential out, but what if he doesnt agree?

hockeytown has had those empty seat costumes for years

There were at least 2 guys holding Calvert’s stick and wouldn’t let go. It looked like he was trying to get his stick free and anything that went on was due to the guys holding the stick. (I realize it isn’t fair to guys to call those things guys)

AJ makes a lip smacking noise when he talks about good eats during the podcast. Can we get a list of the all-lip-smack dishes that Avs fans should eat around Denver if we are watching a game in a bar? Let’s go with a rating scale one to five lip smacks.

    Question for the next pod:

How sustainable are the metrics to keep the Avs on this pace?
CF% is at a mediocre 48.04,HDCF% is less than 50,team SV% is .930, they’re shooting as a team at 9.5% and their PDO is thus 3rd in NHL.

How much of this is impacted by score effects and crazy top end talent? What does any regression to the mean,er, mean for this team?

Are you guys surprised that Makar didn’t make the Canadian WJC roster? Or is there an age limit for him?
Nice to see Bowers and Ranta made their respective teams!

Makar aged out. And Bowers Ranta Kaut have only made the WJC camp rosters. Final rosters will be decided later. Ranta and Kaut should definitely make it though.

Is the Bertuzzi who sucker-punched Calvert related to the Bertuzzi of old? Would not surprise me based on how scummy of a move that was…

Fans dressed as empty seats! Pure Gold AJ.

So at what point does the NHL introduce some kind of referee review process to hold these clown shoe refs accountable? Like why even have rules when the strips are allowed to just blatantly ignore them?
No consistencies on calls from game to game, other than high sticks and slashing (god forbid your stick becomes parallel to the ice near another player). Cole, big hit, gets jumped, no instigator, Nemeth basic hit (Larkin dives like the B**** he is), gets jumped, no call. Now we are down to 4 D men for 5 minutes?, this should be our new strategy, get back 4th line grinders to fight their D core at the same time lol. Like this isn’t atom splitting offside calls that need a 10 minutes review to decide the call, they are obvious calls that are just ignored.

Could the NHL introduce some kind of review process for the refs, fines, reduced games, no playoffs, ect?. Is that even possible? Would it make sense or just crazy talk?

    F*** the Wings!
